Philosophy

Teeter Tots Early Learning Centre is designed for children ages 0-36 moths, 36 moths to 5 years and school aged children. The environment has been carefully constructed to ensure an enriched environment that is safe for the children in our care. Teeter Tots offers a play -based learning approach where children are introduced to a variety of experiences that help the growth of their social, emotional, cognitive, physical and creative development. That includes the 5 senses, gross and fine motor skills. Play enables children to create an understanding of the world from their experiences and have fun while doing it!

Ideas are introduced, such as seasons, weather, animals, science, each other's cultures, pre-math and pre-reading to prepare children for kindergarten. (Please note: printing and reading are taught in grade one). It is hoped that by learning new skills, (eg. Printing his/her name), or by learning from experience, children will find learning to be exciting and fun.

Children are encouraged to be independent as much as possible, to settle their own disagreements, to choose for themselves during free play, and to create at the art table without suggestions from adults.

A healthy lifestyle is encouraged by promoting the eating of nutritious foods and by getting as much outdoor exercise as possible.

Field trips are an important part of the program because they support what children learn in the daycare program and after school care programs.

Our skilled and caring educators are dedicated to meeting the needs of all the children in an anti-biased respectful and nurturing atmosphere. We follow children's development  individually, recognized and respecting differences and valuing them for the individuals that they are. In an inclusive and diverse social setting, children develop inner discipline (self-regulations), independence and confident, (positive self esteem) and an understanding of diversity.

Teeter Tots Early Learning Centre strives for its childhood programs to have a significant positive influence, guiding and enhancing children's development in their important, informative years.

Parents are welcome to visit the daycare at any time. Parents are also welcome to participate in cultural celebrations by bringing special food, offering a song, or story at circle time, etc.  Suggestions or questions are also welcome.

Our Mission

We believe that children thrive in an environment which values their own uniqueness, while providing support and opportunities to grow emotionally, socially and creatively. By building on each child’s strengths, interests and curiosities, we guide each child to explore the world around them as well as develop new abilities and form close relationships.
